Our story & mission - why Pay it forward financial planning?
why pay it forward financial planning exists
My mom was a huge inspiration in my life. She spent her 57 years on Earth focusing on raising a family, creating memories, and leaving everything she touched better than when she found it.
When it came time to launch my firm, I wanted to serve individuals and families that embodied her qualities and beliefs.
We need to plan for the long run and be financially secure. But life is short, and it should not be measured by numbers on your balance sheet. However, it should be measured by the experiences you create with loved ones and the impact you make on the world around you.
Matt’s professional journey
My journey to launching my firm almost never happened. I was in my last semester of undergrad at Otterbein University and had no idea what I wanted to pursue as a career after graduation. I was extremely nervous and walked into my microeconomics professor’s office to discuss the possibility of attending graduate school. Instead, he told me about a career as a financial planner and set up an interview with a former student of his who worked in financial services. The rest is history. I graduated in 2017 with a degree in Applied Mathematics and started my first job in the financial services industry shortly after.
After a few entry-level positions, I was fortunate enough to land at a fee-only financial planning firm in 2020. I was hired as an associate financial advisor, then moved to financial planner before ultimately being promoted to senior financial planner and responsible for 70 households. As a senior financial planner, I honed the skills to manage client relationships.
Since entering the industry, I’ve been fortunate enough to obtain several professional designations and further my education, which includes:
Becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional in 2021.
Completing my Master’s of Science in Personal Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning in 2022.
Passing a three-part tax examination and a background check required to be recognized as an Enrolled Agent.
